logo-transparentI am so honored to be asked to be the first YPB featured business.  It is often said in Boone, that if you don’t work for the university, then you are an entrepreneur.  When I was at Appalachian State University the entrepreneurship program was just getting started and knew that entrepreneurship was going to become more and more relevant.

My new business Appalachian Commercial Real Estate is a full service commercial real estate firm providing brokerage, leasing and consulting services to owners and users of commercial real estate in northwest North Carolina and beyond.  What does that mean exactly; well we seek to assist buyers and sellers of commercial real estate in a traditional manner with either buyers or sellers representation.  We only focus on commercial real estate and understand the complexities that are involved with representing buyers and sellers of substantial assets.  We also provide leasing services in that we will work with landlords who have vacant space, exposing it to the market, pricing it properly and securing a tenant.  We will also work with tenants, so new or expanding businesses that are looking for space, we work to see where they should go, what they should pay and assist them in structuring a lease that is not only competitive but sustainable.  I think that is one of the aspects of my business that I really enjoy.  As an entrepreneur and business owner myself, I understand it can be a headache to not only try and find space but make sure you are getting a good deal.  Lastly, sometimes you just need advice or an opinion and not actual representation.  Therefore, we provide our time for a fee to be a professional resource.  In short, just as you would work with your attorney or CPA, we provide a professional service for those needing assistance to solve commercial real estate problems.  James is the only CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designee located in the high country area.  This professional designation is the standard in commercial real estate for expertise and market knowledge.

I am really grateful to be a part of Young Professionals of Boone.  I never thought that seven plus years later we would be serving each other and ultimately our community, still while having so much fun.  It really has been a blessing to see this group grow along with continuing to see new faces.  When I decided to start Appalachian Commercial Real Estate I wanted to utilize the services and resources that were within our group.  Sallie Aceto with DMG did our branding and website, Matt Harris with Assurance did our professional insurance, Josh Thurman with WJ Office did our office chairs, Tyler Moffatt with Moffatt & Moffatt provided legal assistance.  So no matter your business new or old know that there are talented young people within our organization to help you.  I encourage members to come to events, network and meet new people.
